Yes, plasma tv screens are technologically- related to violet wands due to the fact that they use high voltage electricity to electrically excite an enclosed gas, causing the gas to glow.  This electrical current exciting a gas and causing it to glow colors, is precisely what is happening within a glass violet wand electrode.  But you wouldn't pick up a television and run it along someone's spine to get them tingling.   In other words, just because it uses the same technology, doesn't mean you want what they are trying to sell you.

 Educate yourself so that you can be sure you're getting a bonafide violetwand.
