 The Tesla Coil
The tesla coil is a super geek's science project. But, it is a similar type of electrical coil configuration that runs a violet wand. Tesla coils have much, much higher voltage and the primary and secondary is reversed over a violet wand's electrical coils. Not portable, though small kit sizes are available.
Not to be messed with. They can cause death unless you know what you're doing, and it takes a -LOT- to know what you are doing with them.
How to tell: It looks like a movie prop.
Verdict: Leave it to the geeks.
