There are many, many variations on the three Basic Techniques, some of which are presented in the Enhanced Techniques articles.  Most advanced and enhanced techniques were invented by members of the International Violet Wand Guild. 

Prior to 2000, there were no names for these technique categories and it was very difficult to describe them to others.  At one time, there was an OLD term, 'lightning hands' that referred to all Indirect and Reverse techniques, but the two categories of techniques are so different, that OLD term is no longer used among the knowledgeable.  If you've started the habit of using that one term to describe both sets of techniques, try to break yourself of it.  Limiting both categories to one term has kept people from knowing about, or using Reverse techniques.

Among their other work, we can be grateful to the International Violet Wand Guild for standardizing the names of these technique categories so that wand users can understand what each other is talking about, and spread knowledge of the three different techniques to a wider demographic.

*UPDATED for 9/1/2010: There are new violet wand techniques in 2010.  This is due to totally new products that were invented by Violetwanda and the Violet Wand Guild.  The products can be seen at www.violet-wands.com and some at www.violetwanda.com.  The development of these totally new products have spawned totally new violet wand techniques.  More updates to come.
