How do Violet Wands Work?

The violet wand is basically an electrical transformer.  It has been called a generator, but generators ‘generate’ electricity, and violet wands do not make electricity, nor use a generator coil.  Fortunately for us, they do transform electricity with a magneto coil.  Normal, ordinary household electricity is hazardous  when it comes direct from the wall socket.  Thus transformers exist to change the output into levels of electricity that we need to use.  The Violet Wand acts as a transformer in a similar way that other tranformers do, adjusting the level of household current, and making it into the desired end electrical current.

 

The transformer at left does the same thing, but it doesn’t do what we want!  It does however, make household electrical current safe for your sensitive electronics.

 

The violet wand “transforms” high voltage household current by a several-stage process.  The first part of a violet wand is a magnetic resonator coil.  A magnetic resonator coil consists of a bundle of iron rods wrapped with hundreds of turns of fine copper wire.  Electricity enters this tightly wound electrical coil and builds up.  It continues to build as it passes back and forth between two vibrating magnetic contacts.  The vibrating contacts are what you hear with the familar ‘buzzing’ sound of a violet wand.

 

The second part of the violet wand transformer is a capacitor.  The capacitor is what you might know as a ‘core’, but they are functional capacitors.  They can be made of different materials.  The dreaded wax core you’ve heard about runs only 10 minutes and then needs a cool-down, or you damage it.  So be sure you are getting a violet wand that has a LONG RUNNING capacitor.   Violet rays all have wax core capacitors.  Industrial leak detectors (that are sometimes sold as violet wands because they look the same on the outside), also have 10 minute capacitors.
