Buying a Violetwand

In the article Related Devices, we discussed some things to look out for when buying a violet wand kit, when it comes to devices which are related to violet wands, but in fact, are not.  Thus this article does not tell you again, what to guard against, but instead, is to help guide you in what to look for, in a purchase of an actual violet wand.

Get direct from a manufacturer.  This is the safest option, as you know where the wand is coming from, whose warranty is behind it and who made it.

Look for a kit Most violet wands come in kits.  The accessories in the kits are usually propietary to the violet wand manufacturer.  Finding a ‘violet wand’ without an accompanying kit, could be a tip off that  it is not actually a violet wand, or that it is in used condition and was removed from the accompanying kit.  The major and reputable violet wand companies sell violetwands in their branded kits so their goods are not confused with imposters.  In addition, violet wand transformers are of little use by themselves, and since their strength and techniques are dependent upon the violet wand accessories you use, they are only functional when they are part of an accompanying kit with appropriate accessories.

Look for a kit that fits you: VioletWand kits come in all sizes; from the kits with one electrode, to kits with dozens of pieces.  Accessories within the kit are chosen by the manufacturer to provide you with the widest range of techniques available for that size or type of kit.  So while you want to work within your budget, you want to realize that an expert has compiled the kit for you ahead of time, saving you mistakes as you search for the best tools and implements to work with wand techniques and your experience level.

You can alway start with a basic kit and grow your kit, adding professional accessories and your own found items.   For the experts there are even specialty kits, such as violet wand branding kits, perfect for people in the body modification business.

Look at your warranty: When you purchase a violetwand kit, know who you are making the purchase from, and who you can go back to for servicing or warranty.   Know your warranty terms and follow them so you have smooth servicing when you need it.  Warrantys available vary by company.   Our advice is to look for a minimum1 year warranty and a minimum 5 year life expectancy (appropriate to the price you paid.)

Look for one that lasts:    A good violet wand will have a minimum 1 hour run time, and some will be rated up to 6 or even 8 hours run time.   This is due to the specific capacitor that a real violet wand uses, instead of the ‘wax core’ capacitors or other 10-minute short-run capacitors used in look alike devices.

Look for quality:    Warranties are a good tip-off about a company’s quality. As in all things you buy, you want it to be something that will last and that the company will stand behind its product with a decent warranty.   In person, quality kits will be apparent while poorly made ‘knock-off’ items in violet wand kits will use substandard materials, such as lamp cord wire, plastic parts, etc.   Invest the same attention into your choice of violet wand kit, as you would your finest flogger…in fact, invest even MORE attention into your choice of violet wand kit, as there is far more at stake with safety in electrical play.

Look for a manufacturer:  There are whole bunches of resellers out there. Know who you are getting it from.

I think something people should be aware of is how much longer some vendors can take and they really are so much different from each other. Like, the violet wand store is super speedy, and customer service is 100%. Sometimes they ship the same day. Then you have a few days for your order from dr clockwork and mostly good customer service, but his prices are a LOT higher. Then violetwanda.com you wait about a week to get your order, but good prices and great warranty. If you need customer service from them you wait longer than other places, but its good customer service when its your turn. Then the longest is mjolnir at http://www.violet-wands.com. If you get your stuff from them in 10 days its about right, but if you order something special from them it can be months. Nobody is bad but they all have good points and bad points. I’d like to get mjolnir products at violetwands.com speed!

Haha. But since we can’t do that, which violet wand company do you prefer overall? And it would be nice to know why.

I think you could expand on this article. There are more types of violet wands and it would be helpful to advise everyone on all the types.

Agreed. Surely there are enough people who support this who have the brains to help? I would volunteer to help set it up!
